It is very important to save girl child not because the ratio is becoming less when compared to the boys birth rate but because the killing of any child inside the womb is crime against law and its unethical. Children are the gift from god no matter girl or a boy. We should respect the gift and should not chopped them off before they get in to the real life. Girls are the real hero of any house and so they should be saved as killing a girl child will only bring misfortune to many people.

The ratio of girl child is decreasing day by day in our country. I do not understand when people will think positively about the birth of girl child. Girls are considered as best in comparison to boy in terms of emotions, work and handling other stuffs. Girls are the movers of the country and the world as a whole. People should understand the importance of having a girl child as they are no less than any man. One should save the girl child anyhow due to the decrease in the girls ratio in comparison to boys.

Girls are the best! girl child death rate is increasing day by day among people no matter how poor the parents are or how rich the parents are. The mentality of people are still the same after getting education at high colleges. Girls are still killed by the people after the sonography is done and it is detected the fetus is a female then the abortion is done which is indeed a wrong step. We should take measures to stop this crime as it is against law and illegal to detect the gender of the fetus inside the womb.

Female Infanticide is the biggest problem that people are facing these days. Though one may agree that the quality of life of women in India has improved over the years yet the sex ratio in most states of India, Haryana taking lead, still shows poor results. Female child is still killed before birth although apparently even trying to know the sex of the foetusis considered illegal and is punishable by the law.

This is indeed a sad issue that girls are being killed a lot by the parents themselves inside the womb and some after giving the birth. This can be stopped only by following some string steps by the women themselves. By giving proper education the girl child can be saved to high extent. Education can broaden the mentality of the people in all aspects.

@economist: yes, I personally feel that eductaion can be the best tool in saving girls and especially if the education is given to the women. Woman is the only one who understands the need of the girl child and she can only save the girls from killing inside the womb. It is our duty to save girl child being a human.

    Female Infanticide in India

Between the years 1986 and 2001, five million girls were eliminated due to fetal sex determination done by unethical medical professionals. After census 2001, the rate of extermination is increasing. Sex determination and sex selective abortion was traced to an Amritsar clinic in the year of 1979 and has now grown into Rs.1000 crore country wide industries.

The death rate of girl child is increasing day by day and it has to be stopped anyhow. I have seen many people or you can say parents who go for ultra sound and get the checkup done for the baby girl or a boy, if they find it girl they get it aborted which is a crime. It should be strictly banned by the government. We should save girl child as women are equally important.

I think the mentality of people has to be changed so that they do not go for fetal abortion if its girl child in the mothers womb. The indian women should understand this because they are equally responsible in being part of female infanticide. They should understand that being female is as equally important as being a male. If this continues, the sex ratio would go unbalanced which would not be healthy for the society and nation on the whole.

Indian woman no matter how well educated she is wants to have a male heir for her family. this is the mentality of today's woman, though it is changing with time but still a huge portion of the mothers want a male child as their first baby. If they get it its good enough and if they do not then they take next chance even if they want to have only one baby they go for second baby in case she gets a girl child at first.

Female infanticide is an issue rampant only in India amongst the developing or developed countries. This has to be explained to the people living in the rural. The central board can also include various stories which would educate children on the issue of female infanticide and by this way we can atleast curb this activity from their generation onwards.

Stop Killing Girl Child Today! India had lot of work to do to cure some of its serious issues from roots. India needs to educate common people, making them aware of few specific things. India still faces shameful practices which involves killing of a girl child, India should reunite promoting the notion " Save A Girl child".

Female feoticide and homicide are common in India and are seem to have escalated in recent years. Undoubtedly, Government has taken steps by making statutes to curb this ongoing social evil in the society but people are still practicing this evil. A child whether a boy or a girl, is a gift of god and its a sin to kill the girl child before it is born or even after her birth. It is seen that even educated people go for such an act of disgrace. In Indian families a boy is supposed to carry on the legacy of the family however, a girl can do the same and more efficiently. This kind of act should be protested and stopped. It is a disrepect to the Women folk as a whole.

Killing of the girl child in the fetus and even killing a new-born girl child is quite common in many states of India. It is very much true that Government has taken steps to prevent female feoticed but it is still persistent. It is a social evil and discrimination between a boy child and a girl child is not acceptable. It is seen that in the Indian society a boy child is more favored than a girl child, which is total injustice. This mainly started with the rising demand of dowry and the parents of the girl child are not able to fulfill the demands of the groom. Female feoticide and homicide has let to decline in the number of girl child in comparison to boys. It is now time to wake up and protest against such acts of disgrace.

The sex ration in States of Haryana and Punjab are skewed due to killing of girl child before birth or immediately after birth. Girls are still considered as economic liability in many families. Despite of making laws against determination of sex and declaring it as a punishable offense, it is still being practiced. However, it is not just enough to have laws to stop determining sex but there should be laws enacted to stop homicide of girl child.

The major problem in India is that people are still obsessed of having a male child which is still creating gender discrimination in the society and this is leading to female foeticide and female infanticide. Moreover, in many places people still consider girls as inferior to boys. This can only be solved by letting the ignorant people understand the importance of girls and their abilities. Education and media as well can play a great role in saving the girl child.

I agree that these situations are still there but mostly now people are educated and they are seeing both boys and girls equally.
I can proudly say that my family is example for this.We are 4 girls brought up nicely, given full education and good life too.
Day by day situations are changing. One thing we can do is awareness and educating the people about the current.
