Sandipani Vidyaniketan is a beautiful place in Porbandar situated about 3-4kms away from the railway station. This place is one of the best spiritual as well as religious places I have ever seen in my life, the main attraction of the place is the Hari Mandir that has been built in the middle of the premises. However Sandipani covers a huge acres of land in which different things are running for different purposes such as, the huge premises has Gurukul with Hostel where small boys are given the knowledge of Sanskrit Literature they are also taught the Vedic rituals to become formal priests in their future. Those boys are called ‘Rishi-Kumars’ and surprisingly all those Rishi-Kumars handle the major of the tasks of this huge place. Then there is Sandipani Vidyaniketan School that has been running for the deprived and poor children, here they are given education free of cost. There is a quite big Gau-shaala where cows are sheltered with much of care; the milk of those cows is served to the Rishi-Kumars and other children of the school in their meals.
The founder of Sandipani Vidyaniketan is the Indian Sanatan Dharma Guru Shri Ramesh Bhai Oza ji, who believes in the power of youth and himself a great thinker and master of spirituality. The Aarti of Hari Mandir is just mesmerizing and a feast to one’s ears and eyes. Morning and Evening prayers and in fact all the daily rituals of the temples are followed by the Rishi-Kumars only, since Oza ji is often not present here. This place is surrounded by tall palm trees and lots of greenery. There is a wonderful accommodation facility available for the tourists and visitors that is also provided free of cost, one only needs to inform in advance for all the bookings. Apart from this, the place is completely serene and soothing; one finds solace and feels bliss over here. The atmosphere of the place is highly positive and energetic one feels truly connected to the inner-self after reaching to this place. However the premises are always open but still, the best time to visit Sandipani Vidyaniketan is during the Navraatri and Guru Poornima.
