I live in england where sometimes we feel out of touch with Indians and face Discrimination by the British which is not apparent in many walks of life and feel Deprived of our Basic human rights of freedom. The police sometimes Harass Indians because of their Colour and they are Easily spotted. yet try to force issues to favour themselves. So do you think I should get a Police uniform to protect other Indians. I Hope I am not getting into trouble.

who are we to tell?

Who are we to tell what to do? Aren't Indians themselves responsible for the situation to some extent? Haven't they migrated to places like UK/USA chasing great American dream? Everything has it's pros and cons, you loose something, you gain something. Dependents usually have to deal with harassment one way or the other. Truth hurts somethimes :(

I noticed this when I visited England. My view in all such matters is that noone can humiliate you if you do not allow them to. If it is some punk on the street, stand up to them (if it can be safely done). They scare real quick. I have experienced this myself in BNP infested places like Halifax, up in the north.

If it an official (I have never experiencd this), report them.

In normal workplace environments, I could sense some amount of aloofness in some folks, but if you maintain your dignity, noone will dare look down upon you.

By the way, what exactly do you mean by "getting a Police uniform"? Are you talking about enlisting?

Most non indians have some what prejudice against indians  always hating on us im glad we irritate them it shows how weak they are ;) it only affects them not us :)

I actually live in a area with not many Indians and yes I do have a White hubby OK. I feel that it is the muslims the Brits are more worried about as per usual.

And before you closet racists moan, let me tell you something. Shashi Kapoor had a English wife and he had no problem OK!!!
My kids are more whiter than the English because I am a punjabi woman.

i live in Engalnd, north england and Thank God, there is no problem here:)
and only some ignorant white people r like that but they do not only harass indians but other non whites too

Racial discrimination exist in England and many Indians have been victims of such discrimination. The discrimination does not prevail only against Indians but against all Asians and Africans. Many movies even have been made showing the discrimination that people face who hails from various parts of Asia and this is because of perhaps some insecurities that they face. The movie "I Proud To be an Indian" portrays the racial discrimination that exist in England.
