Hello,
My name is Rachel. I am a student at the California State University of San Bernardino. I am currently enrolled in a Social Sciences class about race and racism. Our professor has given us an assignment in which we are required to interview an United States resident of Indian nationality. Here is the description that my professor has given me:
Interview with a member of an ethnic-racial group
The purpose of this assignment is to have a interpersonal experience with a member of an ethnic-racial group who tends to be misrepresented in the media. Here, you will identify a member of a particular ethnic-racial group, interview this person, and write a reflection about your experience.
Your task
1) Your most difficult undertaking is to identify an individual (male or female) who meets the following criteria:
a. Self-identifies as an Arab or Indian (from India the country, *not* Native American).
b. Thirty years old or older.
c. Lived in the United States of America for at least 10 years.
I don't know anyone whose native home is India and am hoping that your India Forum might be able to provide me with some assistance in finding someone who meets these criteria and wouldn't mind answering some questions about India and their experiences there as well as here in the United States. I would be happy to provide the questions that will be asked if that would help you make your decision.
I know that this might seem an outlandish request, but I would really appreciate your help with this assignment.
Thank you for your consideration and I hope to hear from you soon.
-Rachel
