India in many of its remote areas still witnesses honor killings. No honor killings are not subjective to any particular religion or caste, in fact what instigates this brutal act is the dominant yet indigenous traditional superstitions that reside in the orthodox Indian minds. Many writers often claim that Dignity rather fear of the loss of dignity forces families to indulge in honor killing.However what I believe is that it is not solely dignity, rather the various notions of dignity attached with superstitions in the illiterate remote minds leads to this gruesome act.
