Puri in Orissa is considered to be a pious place among all the religious places in India. Many people around the country and world throng the place to get the holy blessing from the gods and goddess that reside there. The place is situated in the eastern coastline of the country, India and in the state of Orissa. It is the main pilgrimage venue for the Hindus and hosts many religious monuments and temples. There are a copious numbers of place that you can look to visit when you are in Puri. Apart from the beautiful temples the place also has beautiful lakes and water bodies, Chilka being one such lake which is thronged by many.

JAGANNATH PURI TEMPLE

The popular Jagannath Temple at Puri is the main draw for all the enthusiastic tourists. It is the most popular and sacred temple in the country and has immense religious connotation. Going back in history we will see that the temple was first built long back in the 12th century AD by Raja Ananta Varman Chodaganga Dev. The temple is the tallest temple in the country and stands tall with a monster height of 192 feet. The major attraction of this temple is the magnificent architecture in the temple wall and of-course the three holy deities of Subhadra, Balaram and Jagannath.

Puri is crowded by sea of people every year who gather to pray and offer their sacrifices to the lord. Apart from the religious significance the place has many other attractions. But when you say Puri it is almost synonymous to the almighty. The place bears religious significance to a great extent. The Gundicha Ghar Temple is another serene temple that that located in Puri itself. This Temple in Puri happens to be the aunt’s house of the three holy deities Balram, Subhdra and Jagannath.
