AKSHARDHAM is a hindu temple complex in Delhi. Inaugrated in November 2005by the president of India , Shri Abdul Kalam , in the august presence of the prime minister , Manmohan singh, and the leader of the organization responsible for the creation of Akshardham , Pramukh Swami Maharaj , this temple has already attracted tens of thaunsands of visitors from all over the globe. It is Hindu temple complex, which has been located near the banks of river Yamuna.
The Originator : Akshardham is the creation of HDH pramukh swami Maharaj . Originally, the Vision of Yogiji Maharaj fulfilled by his spiritual successor HDH pramukh swami Maharaj. HDH Pramukh swami maharaj is the spiritual leader of swami narayan Sanstha ( BAPS) . He has created internation cultural complexes like The akshardham in Gandhi Nagar , India. The swami narayan Mandir in NEASDEN London, Housden Texas, Chicago illinios, Atlanta , Georgia , Los Angeles , California , Toranto , Canada and Nairobi , Africa. Even at the age of 85 HDH pramukh swami maharaj travels and meets people throughout the world to help those leads better lives.
BAPS Swami narayan sanstha is an international social , spiritual and Charitable NGO affiliated with the United Nations. Through its 9000 centers 750 Sadhus or Monks , 55000 volunteers and over a Million Followers. BAPS performs over a 160 Humanitarian activities. Akshardham is a Part of BAPS cultural and educational activities . To promote Indian Art , Culture and Values.

THE MANDIR
The main building at the center of the complex houses and eleven feet high , gulded image of Swami Narayan , 17th century reformer whose followers believe him to be an incarnation of the god. The bulding itself is build of Rajasthani pink sandstones and Italian Carrara Marbles . At 141 ft. high it is impressive presence felt from afar, and its carved details of Floura, Founa , Dancers , Musicians and God’s Covering its surfaces from top to bottom, leave most visitors in awe. Akshardham Delhi is the biggest Handcarved structure in the world.
THE EXIBITION
Hall 1, named Hall of Values ‘ Sahajanand Darshan ‘ , Features like robotics , Dioramas , and scenes from swami Narayan’s Life , Portraiting his message of peace , Harmony, Huminity, Service to others and devotion to God.
Hall 2, named giant screen film ‘ Nilkanth Darshan’ , Houses Delhi’s first and only large format screen . The theater shows a Movie specially commissioned for the complex that shows the Journey swami Narayan made during his Teenage Years across the length and Breadth of India.
Hall 3, Named boat Ride ‘ SanskrUTI Vihar’ , takes Visitors on a Journey through ten thousand years of Indian History in Ten minutes. Visitors sit in specially designed Peacock boats that makes their way around an artificial rever, passing the world’s first university ,chemistry laboratories , Ancient hospitals and Bazars, finally ending with a message for the future of India.

I have heard a lot about this temple but have never got the chance to visit .. will do this time for sure
