India is slowly inclining towards the automatic transmissions. The recent arrivals of the slew of affordable AMT cars allowed the budget conscious Indian car buyers to go for the automatics. In 2017, many manufacturers will bring in their automatic models to the country. Let’s have a look at automatic budget cars that will arrive in India soon.
Maruti Ignis
The Ignis will replace the Maruti Ritz in the Indian market. It is one of the most awaited cars from Maruti and will be launched on 13th January. The car will get both petrol and diesel engines, and both of them will get optional automatic AMT transmission. The small hatchback will take on the likes of Mahindra KUV 100 when launched.
Maruti Swift
The all-new Maruti Swift will be launched in India by the festive season. As of now, the Swift does not offer any automatic transmission but reportedly, the next generation Swift will offer Automated Manual Transmission or the AMT. The next-generation Swift may also get a mild hybrid system similar to the Ciaz, making it much more efficient.
Hyundai Grand i10
The facelift version of the Grand i10 was unveiled last year during the Paris Motor Show. The new Grand i10 will be launched in Indian market soon. The new vehicle will feature an AMT, unlike the current conventional automatic gearbox. This will reduce the cost of the vehicle. Hyundai is developing the gearbox with the German company ZF.
Tata Nexon
The all-new sub 4-metre SUV is being developed by Tata for a long time now. The car is scheduled to be launched later this year. The upcoming Nexon will feature AMT and will take on the likes of Ford EcoSport and Maruti Vitara Brezza. The Nexon gets a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and an all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine.
Datsun Redi-Go
Like the Kwid AMT, the Datsun Go will also get the AMT treatment in coming few months. The Redi-Go will also get the more powerful 1.0-litre engine along with the AMT. The Redi-Go will become one of the cheapest AMT cars when launched.
Tata Tiago
The Tiago has been a grand success for Tata in India. The car has helped Tata to gain the third spot among the manufacturers in India. Tata will soon launch the Tiago with AMT in next few months. With the new variant, Tata Tiago will be able to take on the likes of Maruti Celerio and WagonR AMT.
Tata Kite-5
The Tiago based sedan, Kite-5 was first showcased during the Auto Expo 2016. The Kite-5 sedan will be slotted below the Tata Zest and will be one of the cheapest sedans in India. The Kite-5 will get similar specifications like the Tiago and will be launched in the market by the festive season.
Maruti Vitara Brezza
Maruti launched the Vitara Brezza with an only diesel-manual option. Soon, the manufacturer will launch the automatic version of the car. Maruti showcased the car during the Indonesia Motor Show. It is not yet known if the car will get an AMT or conventional automatic, but they did confirm that the production version of the car will be ready in next few months.
