Compact SUV segment in India is inarguably the segment which exploded in sales figures. Almost all the manufacturers have come up with compact version of a full-size sedan. Even though the trend setter was Padmini Rio, which was the first compact SUV in India, the real numbers were churned by Renault Duster. It has been quite a time since Duster came to the market after which the fraternity of compact SUVs has really swelled in size. Let’s find out which are the top selling compact SUVs in the segment as per the sales report of last month.
Hyundai Creta
The Creta has received a lot praises since its launch last year. The car looks much like the bigger sibling Santa Fe and attracted huge number of customers towards it. Creta has been on top spot almost every month after its launch even though the newly launched Vitara Brezza from Maruti is catching up to the top seller. Currently, Hyundai sells around 8,000 units of the car per month.
Maruti Vitara Brezza
The Brezza became the third car to be sold by premium Nexa dealerships after S-Cross and Baleno and the sales figure is already sky rocketing. The Vitata Brezza brings back the name of the Grand Vitara which was discontinued due to poor sales but the future of the Brezza seems pretty strong. Brezza has few unique features in the segment like dual-tone colors and Apple CarPlay supporting infotainment system. Last month, Maruti sold 7,832 units of Brezza.
Ford EcoSport
EcoSport was the second car in India to be under 4-metres and called SUV at the same time. Since the time of launch, EcoSport has been maintaining good numbers on the chart. The EcoSport’s robust built quality along with safety features makes it an attractive choice. Also, EcoSport is way better to drive when compared to the competitors and that gives the car an edge over others.
Now EcoSport has recently seen few changes to its exterior and slight tuning to its diesel engine to increase the power output. Ford also reduced the prices of the car soon after the launch of the Vitara Brezza to maintain the competition and it has worked very well for Ford. Currently, Ford sells around 4,000 units of the EcoSport but the sales have been very steady.
Renault Duster
The Duster has been one grand success story for Renault in India. The bulky looks of the car alone has attracted flocks of customers. The Duster is the only car in top 5 sellers to offer 4WD option. The car has seen a major update recently with exterior and interior changes and also, the Automated Manual Transmission is added to the car. Duster sells around 2,000 units per month.
Mahindra TUV 300
The TUV 300 has been designed to be a better looking upgrade of the ageing Bolero. Even though it did not replace the highest selling product from Mahindra portfolio, it has made a space of its own in the market. The TUV 300 is also offered with Automated Manual Transmission and been selling around 2,000 units per month.
