The monsoon is already starting to invade the Indian mainland. While the monsoons are one of the most pleasant times of the year, our beloved vehicles do not like too much of water. Too much of water can even make your car breakdown in the middle of the road. There are ways to make sure that monsoon does not spoil your car’s or your mood.

Here are a few tips that will keep you waterproof this water-loving season.
Tyres
The most important link between the car and the road and they should never be ignored. Bald tyres can be one of the biggest scares during monsoon season. The tyre treads help to remove water from the road surface and maintain grip. Make sure that the tyre has good depth as recommended by the manufacturer. You can also take a Re. 1 coin and put it between the tyre tread. If the depth is less than one-third of the coin size, it is time to get new rubber.
Brakes
Wet brakes mean less friction. The lower resistance translates into more work done by the brakes. It is critical to get the brakes checked before taking the car out in the rainy season. The wet roads also bring down the grip and brakes have to work a lot more during the wet conditions.
Wipers and headlamps
To make sure that your vision is not affected by rain, make sure that your wiper blades are clean and they work efficiently in the rain. Always check the wiper blades before the rainy season. If the wipers leave any streaks on the windscreen, it becomes tough to see through the glass during the monsoon showers. Also, make sure that your headlamps and brake lamps are working. Rain brings down the vision, good maintenance of the headlamps and the brake lamps will ensure that the other vehicles can spot you easily on the road.
Check all the beading
The rainy season always arrives after the extreme summers. Due to heat, the beadings can develop cracks and can leak water inside the car. It is always a good idea to give a proper inspection to all the beadings on the door before the season arrives.
Air conditioner
The air conditioner has to play a very important role during the monsoons. One of the biggest problems car users faces is the fogging up of the windows. The defogger in the car uses AC’s dry air to remove the fog. Get your AC properly checked.
Treat your car with wax polish
A good coat of wax polish will keep the water away from your precious car. Pre-monsoon rains are acidic in nature as they mix up with all the pollutants from the atmosphere. Keeping your car waxed will make sure that such harmful chemicals do not affect the car’s paint.
Essentials to carry
A good car perfume, a few newspapers, a box of tissue papers are few essentials that should be present in your car during the monsoons. Additionally, a set of fuses and headlamps will make sure that you are not stranded if any of the fuses blow due to short circuit. You can also keep a pair of slippers and an umbrella for the times you have to step out in the rain.
