The culture, traditions, natural beauty, the hospitality and a lot more is the reason why India is such a popular tourist destination. People from India too love their own country because it has so much to offer and it never ceases to amaze them in different ways. Thus, in order to make India the best country we need to push the level of our hospitality a little higher. In whatever way we can, we need to make India even better and more comfortable for the tourists who come here in the hope of getting a new experience.
Language barrier – The first and the foremost thing we need to do is to do away with the language barrier. Indians and the native people of the popular tourist places are not very fluent in English and as a universal language all the foreigners speak or communicate in English. The tourism departments should look into this and ensure that the tourists don’t have to struggle while trying to communicate with the people of the particular place that they visit. Even some of the Indians are not very fluent in Hindi, that could also be worked upon.
Welcoming atmosphere – When a couple of tourists, especially foreigners, enter our land, they are followed by a million pairs of eyes. That makes them feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed. We need to get used to the fact that foreigners are human beings too, and this sort of unwanted attention will get to them and they won’t be able to enjoy themselves.
Hospitality – We need to show that our culture has taught us to be hospitable towards the guests of the country, we should help them in whatever way we can. Being friendly will not cost us anything. This will only make their experience even more memorable and we will always be in their memories. Hospitality in the hotels and guest houses should also counted to be a part of this and in the flea markets too, one should make sure that the shopkeepers exercise some kind of control and should not pounce on the tourists.
Maps, information, security – A lot of maps should be installed on the roads so that one can figure out where they are in case they feel they have got lost. The government could also install information desks in the major areas of the cities so that people could approach in case they need help. The police should also be active in times when the tourists need help, it will just make them feel more secure.
Making public transport easily available for tourists – Most of the tourists who come to get a hang of the place love to travel by the public transport, at this point if the public transport is easily available to the tourists, they would fall in love with the place. Having proper transport, cheap and affordable, and not having to struggle to get to a place is all that a tourist is looking for, providing that should be one of the major concerns of the tourism departments.
Other than these points one should also ensure that the tourists, at no point, should feel that the local authorities are getting a little too involved in their business. One doesn’t want other people to come and spoil their vacation, so letting people do exactly what they want to until they break any law is a right that the tourists have by default and it should be respected. The tourists are already in love with India and if Indians work a little bit harder, it can become the best holiday spot for anybody and everybody around the world.
Tourism is an emerging trend in the business parks. It is thus in the national interest to improve the tourist hubs for the generation of the state revenue. For this, the development of the tourist spots is important. Recruiting the guides equipped with a tool of many languages and training them properly settle half of the deal. Apart from this, we must concentrate on the cleanliness, infrastructure and local hospitality.
