Honda Cliq is the latest launch by Honda. It is yet another scooter based on the highly successful Activa after the Navi. The Cliq, just like the Navi is an unusual scooter. Honda is targeting the rural market with the newest scooter and has put many practical features in it. The Cliq has become the cheapest 110cc scooter in the market and it is also the cheapest offering from Honda. But is it any good? Let’s find out.
Looks
The Cliq looks like an alien in the scooter market. It is something that Honda showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 based on the Navi but has launched as a different product altogether. The side panels will remind you of the Navi but the front apron of the Cliq take all the attention. The front of the scooter looks neat with a headlamp mounted on the middle, like the Dio. The scooter gets a few matte and carbon fibre finish on the speedometer and the tail-section that makes it feel little more premium. The Cliq also comes with trendy graphics that are optional but makes the scooter look very young and attractive.
The console is all analogue and comes with fuel gauge, speed and odometer. The handlebar is a single unit like the motorcycles. Honda offers 14-litres of the storage under the seat. The footboard space is also good enough to hold two bags. The scooter comes with small 3.5-litre tank. Honda offers optionals like lockable footboard space and a small good carrier to increase the space in the scooter.
Engine and ride
The Cliq is built on the same platform as the Activa. It is also powered by the same tried and tested 109cc single-cylinder engine. The single-cylinder, air-cooled engine produces a maximum power of 8 Bhp at 7,000 rpm and 8.94 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The scooter weighs just 102 kg that makes it extremely easy to ride and handle. The Cliq has smooth and quick acceleration but there’s nothing exciting about it. The suspension are hydraulic like the Activa.
The Cliq returns a claimed 60 km/l, which makes the 3.5-litre tank last more than little over 200 km in real world conditions. Honda provides block pattern tyres on the 10-inch rims, which are same as the Activa. Honda doesn’t offer disc brakes with the Cliq, it comes with combi-brake drum brake system that is good enough.
Should you get one?
If you’re in the market looking for a 110cc scooter and want something other than the much common Activa then Cliq is the answer. The scooter comes with a price tag of Rs. 42,4999 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is Rs. 8,000 cheaper than the Activa. It also offers good storage space and a unique styling which no other manufacturer offers in the market yet. Even though Honda is planning to target the rural markets with the Cliq, the urban can also become a potential market for Honda Cliq.
