Who would not have heard of Yo Yo Honey Singh! The rap star has become extremely popular among the Indian youth these days. His songs can be heard everywhere− in clubs, youth parties, college functions, on FM stations, blaring car woofers, and (sadly) in family functions. Since Bollywood has taken up the trend to make money on his name, his popularity quotient is on a rise every day.

But there must have been an origin of this star too! This question should be asked best to the college students or even the school goers, because the adults are too innocent to have heard of him before he made his debut with popular stars of Punjabi albums. Yes, you will find that 80% of students actually know who he is.

A few years back, Honey Singh was in limelight for his cheap and vulgar song named ‘Badshah’ which had such profane lyrics that it can’t be outdone. The song was all over the internet and people were forwarding it like maniacs. Within a couple of days, he was the most popular singer among the youth, although obviously they could not listen to the song everywhere they wanted. But for private listening, the song was on the top of the chart. Even today you can find that song easily on the internet.

The thing is that the song initiated a trend among the teenagers and so many other songs were released on internet with equally disrespectful lyrics. So in a way, Honey Singh was the one who started the fad. The lyrics are so hateful and offensive to the women that some serious action was required against him. In the present Era, where the female gender is exploited so much, his song is just a catalyst. The sick part of it is that guys actually enjoyed the song, and some carry it in their phones even today.

He was out of the limelight for some time and then emerged out as a pop rap star all of a sudden. The song was a rage among the public and was taken hands on. People who liked his song included even those who never knew what all he has sung by far. All that they knew was that he added some new flavor to the songs, which yes, he did. And the beats were enough to make them go gaga about the song.

But this did not end up in just one song. After gaining the much-delayed popularity, he continued his journey and his popularity kept on rising to an extent that even small kids know his name today.

But the question is, has the offensiveness in his songs halted now? Of course, the songs are released in public and can’t be explicit to that extent. But if you listen to the lyrics carefully, the agenda is the same. He has never stopped pin-pointing the females and disrespecting them in his lyrics by all means.

And what did he get in return? Uncountable fans, unmatched popularity and, of course, the insane wealth. Soon, he began composing his own songs and got himself his own music label. The clubs and DJs went crazy for his songs, and people began tapping their feet with his songs. Now the listeners were not limited to just the guys, even the girls began liking his songs as the releases of the songs became grander.

Well, there is something funny about people. So many of them do not recognize the lyrics of the same song that they dance to. Nobody spares enough time to pay attention to the lyrics and all they care about is the thumping beats.

But that ignorance only added up to his image to such a level that his song was chosen for a Bollywood movie. There are so many rumors regarding the price that the producers had to pay to feature that song in the movie. That was a big success for the star and not much time had passed by when he became popular among the Bollywood producers as well. The reason is that they could cash enough money by hiring him up.

But what happened next? The vulgarity came with him to the Bollywood as well. His latest track ‘Party All Night’ from ‘Boss’ justifies that. The lyrics are quite vulgar and double meaning, and it is a shame that such songs are being played in the radio and television. The song has become a rage among the youth already.

Why is nobody looking after the matter? Why are such offensive tracks allowed, despite knowing the wide coverage of Bollywood in India? Are our moral values on the verge of deteriorating completely? Yo Yo Honey Singh is continuously spreading the profanity with his songs, but will someone put a stop to it?
