It is true that our society has changed and women are no more confined within the four walls of the house. Women are although allowed to work outside the house but still there are several issues and problems that Indian Women face today. They are still not treated equally in there workplace and women are still considered as inferior to their male co-workers. Women are still considered as the vulnerable section of the society and even though they are more efficient, they do not get the same benefits as that of a male employee. The major issues and problems that women face in their work places includes unequal pay, security, sexual harassment, lack of proper family support, deficient maternity leave, etc. Sexual harassment is a major issue that women face at their work places and many women fall victim of sexual harassment at workplace. Women are considered as weak and vulnerable and the male employees and employers try to take sexual favours from women employee in return of other benefits and promotions. Security is another major issue that women face in the workplaces. Women working in BPO sector mostly fall victim of various crimes at workplace and this is due to lack of security provided to the employees. There are many cases that has been registered where women working at BPO sector have become victims of sexual abuses and rapes while going back home and this is due to lack of proper security. Unequal pay is another issue that women face at their workplace. Even though, women prove to be more efficient than male employees most of the time, they are not paid equally. This is an issue and gender discrimination that exists in workplaces. This is an injustice to the women folk who work dedicatedly for the progress and growth of the organization. Lack of proper family support is another issue that working women suffers from. This is an issue that many women struggle and this also hampers their performance and this also affects their promotion. Insufficient maternity leave is another major issue that is faced by a working mother. There are several other such issues that are faced at workplace by women in India. In my view, the mentality of the people of our society needs to change. The male dominance that exists in every part of the nation needs to change if we want women empowerment in India. Just letting women work outside home does not mean that our society treats men and women equally. The issues and problems that women face in their workplaces should be put to an end and then only it can be said that men and women have equal status. Although there are various laws that are made for protection of women even in workplace but due to lack of proper implementation and interpretation of law, it has not been quite effective in protecting women from the crimes and inequality in the workplace. The laws of our nation need to be implemented properly for its effective working.
