women empowerment in India is still an illusion. We have been hearing of women's empowerment a great deal these days and there is no doubt in it that the term is getting lots of media attention as well. However, even after all these, many people are found to hesitate while answering questions on women empowerment. It is too unfortunate. Let mew ask then. Do you know the basics of women empowerment ? Womens empowerment, if truth be told, dos refer to mounting the spiritual, political, social and also economic strength of women. With the exception of this, it does entail empowered rising confidence in their own capacities.

What is the existing situation in India then? This question has to be asked since women empowerment is no longer an alien issue in India and has been gaining media attention as well. These days lots of things are happening in India with regard to women empowerment; a large number of resources are also being spent in this course. Can this do anything good for Indian women? This question is asked since India is dominated by a multi-religious, multi-ethnic and multi-linguistic culture and as a result, differences do exist almost at every level of the Indian society.

Do you know the reality of women in India? While on one hand women foeticide is on the rise, on the other hand honor killings along with gender discrimination in India is at the zenith. If truth be told, in the realm of India women are exceedingly discriminated and marginalized at each level of the social order. These include social participation, financial prospect and economic sharing, political participation, right of entry to education or nutrition and reproductive health care. It is also a reality that women in several parts of India are regarded as sex objects mainly. Just add dowry related problems to this and you can get the reality in a better manner.

What has been the response of Indian governance? It has adopted women empowerment as an official policy, millions of money has already been expended but there has hardly been any development in reality.

Post your Ideas to Empower women in India.

There are many talks being taken up on women empowerment. But this is more of like superficial. Though there are cases where women empowerment is given lift, for example giving quota for women in parliament. Reservation of women in government jobs and also education are other cases where women are given importance to show their excellence.

Many reservation and quotas have been assigned for women empowerment, but all this appear to be very shallow. On papers everything is proper and in place, but somewhere the implementation is not being done in right way, and this is why the step taken today are not yet revealing their real impact.

in india women empowerment has become more of a topic of discussion. to be frank what is being done to empower indian women?? in families, they are looked upon low and weak humans. they are not allowed to work freely in society. people's mindsets need to be changed and unless this is done, no matter how much reservation you allot to the women, worthwhile results are not expected.

Yup! women empowerment is more theoretical than practical.....I want to post a negative aspect of women empowerment. Many women who are financially strong (or belong to such family) and academically well qualified are availing benefits of all those sanctions, quotas, reservations, scholarships, media footage, etc which are meant for poor, illiterate women especially of rural and remote areas.

So, the conditions remains the same for women who are exploited and by quoting their example and current stats the "other" type of women get more and more benefits. So a good % of women are also responsible for the overall condition of women in India.
