Women's work contributes substantially to the occupational continuity of a caste group. For example, it is difficult for weavers, potters, to carry on the complex processes of their craft without the continuous help of the women and children in the household, who in turn have a well defined tasks. Similarly, basket weaving, horticulture, tanning, oil grinding and such other works represent the joint ventures of men and women. Further, in matters relating to food and rituals, marriage and sexuality associated with caste, women seem to be more rigid than men.

Women play the key role in maintaining the sanctity and purity of the home. "The responsibility for who eats what, where and when, falls upon women within the domestic space, women's practices in relation to food play a critical role in the hierarchical ordering of castes". Significantly a woman who belongs to a caste lower than that of her husband's can often cook ordinary food for the family but is not allowed to cook for the ancestors. A woman coming from another caste cannot be fully incorporated into the husband's group and acquire the privilege of feeding the ancestors. They cling on to traditions and even remind men regarding the traditional ways of doing whenever their menfolk show indifference towards certain caste rules and practices.

I feel there should not be any caste system. Credibility should prevail. Rather than giving quota it is better to empower woman by providing them good education, food etc.

I agree with this. Education is the key in this situation.
