It would really be a surprise to see a woman as a taxi/cab or an auto-rickshaw driver, certainly because we Indians are not habitual of seeing our women being so extrovert and independent. Driving any vehicles and that too with perfection is supposed to be the task of men only in India and women have always been seen with raised eyebrows while even driving the cars. Now, in such a case if we see any woman driving such different vehicles then it would surely leave us open-mouthed. But why to feel so much surprise about it, women can also be efficient in driving any vehicles in fact in some cities of our country women have got licences to drive taxi and cabs. And there is nothing wrong in this, women who truly are passionate about doing a dignified job, those who are in deliberate need of earning the livelihood for their families can go for driving jobs also. But what needs to be changed here is the menial mentalities of our male-dominated Indian society and also to raise the security of our women folks. Women are no less than men they are also fully capable of doing the similar things but the biggest hindrance in their way is the lack of motivation and security. Indian women are not at all safe in own country, they are not even sure of their safety while walking out on a road so how can they freely assert to be driving out on the roads and cities at any/odd times? Unusual is not to see a woman driving a taxi or an auto-rickshaw, unusual is the perception of our society with which it perceives and treats its women.
