It is worth pondering on the impact which announcement of mega projects such as Smart cities and Bullet train have on Indian psyche. These projects are considered as elitist by common man. By common man, I mean people from middle class and lower strata. Common man wonders what place he will have in a Smart city. Whether he will be all together displaced? More such projects government announces, more it alienates from common man. Unless BJP gets rid of its pro-rich image and comes up with visibly pro- poor projects, it's political downslide will continue with more accelerated pace.
