Widows are often seen with awe, pitied ,feared that they bring bad omen ,evil. Restricted to remarry .Has the changing times changed the mindset of Indians in accepting widows as normal human beings and let them live as they used to live before?

    Quite serious issue

Widows are not untouchables. They have nothing to do with being a widow. They have not committed any offense. Infact they have lost a beloved one. Nobody on earth can survive healthily without a mate. Life is a hell if you don't have anyone to share your joys and woes. So if any body is finding a suitable match I think that he or she can remarry because life should never stop.

Young women with or without children r marrying again if they become widow.Middle aged women can decide whether they want to remarry or not.Society does not interfere in their decision. But I think if a mother (widow)of grown-up children decide to marry people don't digest it easily.

I think in villages life of widows has not changed much.I couldn't believe what all was shown in movie "Dor"

Widow marriage is now accepted in our society which was earlier considered as a sin. Anyone who is young and becomes a widow can remarry and this is a remarkable change in our society. Widows who are young has all the right to live their lives and remarry. I agree that mother (widow)of grown-up children decide to marry is not very easily acceptable but it is her personal choice to remarry.
