According to Indian culture eating while sitting on the floor was a good habit, traditionally and culturally. this was a gesture of humility towards the God of Food and the mother earth, it was like giving regard to both of them while eating food and perceiving the food like a blessing (Prasad) from them. And the posture for sitting on the floor was always with folded legs, and straight spine, eating with the right hand and first offering the food to the Gods. The ancient saints and philosophers give their practical opinion about this action and that is that when we sit on the floor with folded legs and eat in a good state of mind after offering it to the Gods then food becomes pious and auspicious and has a positive impact on the mind and the body, folded legs is a kind of Yoga Asana and this posture bring calm and composure to the mind. It is believed that if the mind is calm the food that we eat at that time is easily digested and one more fact about this position is that when one sits with folded legs on the floor the mind becomes relax and in that state the mind automatically sends a message to the stomach to get ready for eating.

Isn’t is surprising and an amazing information?
