The Indian Independence Act was passed in the British Parliament in the month of July of 1947.

It stated that the territories under the sovereignty of His Majesty, which were included in British India, were to be divided into the territories of India and the territories of Pakistan.

The territories of Pakistan were to constitute the territories included in the Provinces of East Bengal and West Punjab, the territories included in the Province of Sind and the Chief Commissioner's Province of British Baluchistan.

And the the territories of India were to constitute the territories under the sovereignty of His Majesty which were included in British India except the territories which were to be the territories of Pakistan.

Indian Independence Act 1947 - Section II: http://www.indianembassy.org/policy/Kashmir/indact1947.htm

It was on the basis of this act that British India was divided into the Republic of India and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

    Question:

In your opinion, what was the reason for india's partition and who was the individual or who were the individuals responsible for the demarcation of British India into two seperate dominions namely the Republic of India and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan?

Please state and explain your reasons for the same.

    reason behind devision of india

I can judge only two reason, one is greed of two leaders nehru and jinah .And weakness of mahatama gandhi whose ideology forced , not to react accordingly.

The ugliest deed in the world history

The heart broken deed taken place was very painful and shame to both Sides leaders who helped and conducted the nation to liberate in the name of two religion from British rule and left with no fruits for subjects existing in the land.

Now, it is sad to blame any parties. The matter is over and no one can to return or re-join.

We are the Indians should unite as one and lead the country on the top of world that nobody dare to take the finger out and point us.

    Best wishes to all

Partition of our nation was one of the black days in the Indian History and this was due to lack of foresightedness by our then leaders and greed of Jinnah and Jawaharlal Nehru for the power. Moreover, Mahatma Gandhi favored Nehru more as the Prime Minister of free India and this led to the partition of India and this partition has led to many problems that India is still facing since the time of its Independence.
