People have a view that Hockey is not given that position that holds for a national sport. is it not that any sport will be popular depending on the number of its viewers. and who exactly are the viewers?? do the people who want a position for Hockey have the same excitement in watching cricket and hockey ??

Promote the budding talents from rural India The youths from the rural areas who have talents in the game should be promoted by the government. In every corner of the country, there are talented players who can take on the best players form any country if provided necessary training.
i think both indian hockey authority and indian hockey player are responsible for this because we know that in cricket we playing consistantly good but in hockey we are not playing at that level by which we should are so both are equally responsible for position of hockey in india thanks
i think media, and the government are both responsible for the situation existing. it is the media which is showcasing the hockey in a turmoil state, nevertheless it is though. but it should try to give it more coverage to sports like hockey and football as because if this continues, india would be left behind with only one sport.
indian government and parents as well are responsible for the hockey deterioration in india. Government is giving more and more money to the children and players who are playing cricket at the national level rather than people who play hockey. They are rewarding those players with big flats and cars and give them so much money which in return influence parents and children to go for cricket and not for hockey.
Of course our very own government should be blamed for this. People are making hue and cry that why only cricket is given importance and hockey is neglected. The one and only reason is the money and popularity this game brings to any individual is quite high in comparison to other games especially hockey. If government provides good money and fame and proper training as well then the interest among the youngsters can be developed. Until then its cricket that rules the charts!
