The urban India is calling out for more and more labor force because the advancement can never be accomplished without the men force. With the advent of globalization and technology advancement in the modern India the need for more labor force has also been aroused. However, in the urban India women are now becoming more self-reliant and confident and in the past years they have enthusiastically entered into the employment sector that has further given them economic independence and the feeling of importance. They have felt that they can stand on their own foot and look after the entire family by themselves. This has boosted their self-pride and self-confidence. Employed women feel that they need not live as parasites on their menfolks. In fact, in order to give protection to the economic interests and the rights of the women folks the government has undertaken various socioeconomic legislation which cover areas such as; right to equal wages, working conditions, maternity benefits and job security. But still a few of the recent surveys have given a little bit surprising report that state that in the recent times the labor participation of the Indian educated women has become dormant/inactive in comparison to the earlier times. And nothing happens without any reason. Urban India has got certain reasons for this factor to take place which is as follows: -- The social dogmas of the Indian society are still working on the same foundation that believes to train a girl to become a good wife, mother, daughter-in-law rather lesser focus is given on encouraging a girl to become an administrator/bureaucrats and so on. A girl might possess big degrees, but acquiring the degree of being the best homemaker is more important in the Indian society. -- Social crimes, violence has also led the educated women to change their minds. Every girl/woman seeks safety and security whenever she needs to go out her home for work. But in the present time safety has become an alien concept for women. They don't feel safe while going out for work thus choosing the work over the safety is the last option when all other options seem to be closed. And above all, in the recent times many of the educated women now prefer to work at home on freelancing basis, they seek for a job that allows them to work from the home and so that family also doesn't stay neglected. -- Many of the Indian women are getting self-employed. Women enterprenuership is giving new and wide scopes for self-reliance and economic independence the present times. -- Too much of politics at the workplace and competition with the men colleagues also demoralize the women to quit from jobs. Only the high profiled women and those who are designated at higher posts can manage to survive in such a stagnant working atmosphere. -- Those women whose husbands are earning a handsome salary, usually prefer to play an active role of a homemaker even if they are much educated. They see much more security both social and mental being at home and working 24x7 for the family.
