I love to watch MTV and love most of the shows they have, especially reality shows. But if we watch those shows, like MTV Roadies, or Splitsvilla etc....we see young girls swearing and cursing unabashedly.

My question is, is this the meaning of being modern? What is the exact meaning of being modern?

it depends on every individual and how they interpret the meaning of moderinity. to me, good educaiton, personality, and being able to differentiate between wrong and right. but if somebody sees modernity in swearing and some other cheap things then he/she will be the most naive person.

I agree to the previous poster!

I appreciate the question and the answer that was so well put. Its important to realize that degrading one's integrity and adopting to habits such as swearing and cursing does not mean that one has turned modern.

Becoming modern, for a women simply means that she has learnt to stop just accepting things as they are and starting to work in the direction that earns her maximum respect. Be it professional front, or setting the right attitude in the family towards women; a woman's major role should set right paths for the generations to come. Being modern is all about the right mindset. :)

To me being modern means when people are open in their thinking.. modern doesn't mean that you must wear revealing clothes and carry a wrong attitude.. modernity means openness in thinking.. thinking that everyone is equal .. openess to change in the society..

I am completely agree with you.. modernity means thinking and openness in the thinking ... but that does not mean the girl or guy is rude or not dignified.. Modernity is in thinking not in wearing modern clothes..
