What is Perjury?

    Perjury is willfully provided forged evidence sworn or confirmation, before a competent court of law, upon a point, matter to a lawful investigation. It is also known as foreswearing. It is a criminal offence committed by an eyewitness in legal trials who, having been legitimately avowed or having confirmed, willfully gives false substantiation. It falls under felony as a type of crime and unintentional perjury further influence the character of the crime. It is a punishable offence in the court of law. The person convicted of perjury may be punished with fine, imprisonment, or both depending on the type and nature of case.
