According to an exclusive CNN-IBN-Hindustan Times survey, eight out of 10 Indians feel that rape and sexual harassment are linked to the way women dress. Infact it's the changing role of women in society that's making men aggressive. Around 80 per cent say that's the reason for increased violence against women. And late nights still generate fear in most minds. Almost 69 per cent men feel uncomfortable if their wives or sisters work till late in office. Actress Bipasha Basu may be an image of women empowerment in the film Corporate but six out of 10 men feel uncomfortable working with bold, aggressive women. When asked who would they prefer as a boss, most say they are fine with either men or women. Interestingly, more than 50 per cent of those interviewed said working women do not neglect their family duties. But close to 90 per cent feel that women are misusing rape and dowry laws to target men. source : IBN
The mentality of Indians is yet to develop .. they cannot digest the growth of women and still behave like hypocraits.. But this mentality must be changed.. It is very necessary that working women should be appriciated .
I agree with your thoughts.. people in india still thinks that women are made for household work and they should not be working outside and if they work in any case they are considered as proud and characterless women..People have to grow up now..
You are right about the mentality of the public, but failings of rules of law to protect women is another issue that have put women in vulneralbe position.
A mix view India has many different societies in existence each having its own views. Some are very advance; some are moderately advance whereas some are very introvert. So, there is no exact view about the working women. But yes, the society to which I belong, we are really proud of working women in India. Lord has really created a beautiful creature, which is very delicate from outside but similarly strong and sturdy from inside. I am proud of all the Indian women whether working or non-working. I salute to them.
