Bikaner is one of the popular cities of Rajasthan, which is popular for camel ride and is also called as the Camel Country. The city of Bikaner was founded by the Rajput King Rao Bika in the year 1486 and with time, this city has now developed into the 5th largest city of Rajasthan. The city has a glorious past and the evidence to this is furnished by the forts and places present in the city. Junagarh Fort

Built by Rai Singh in the year 1593, the Junagarh Fort still stands strong and narrates the saga of the glorious past. The whole fort is total in profound history due to which it appeals to the tourists to a great extent. The fort is entirely built with red sandstone and the interior work is done with marble. There are many magnificent things to see within the fort. The rich heritage of the king together with many temples and Havelis of the kings are situated within the premises of the fort. Some of the palaces found here include Ganga Mahal, Phool Mahal, Badal Mahal, etc. There is also a museum within the complex of the fort which showcases the collection of dresses, weapons, paintings and many other things of historical importance.

Lalgarh Palace

Built in memory of his father by Maharaja Ganga Singh, the Lalgarh Palace is situated at a distance of about 3 km from Bikaner city. Designed by Sir Swinton Jacob, the palace is building is quite impressive with its suspended balconies and fragile latticework. Blooming bougainvillea and Peacocks welcome the visitor. Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation has transformed a portion of this palace into a hotel.

Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum

The Ganga Golden Museum is one of the most prominent attractions of the city of Bikaner. This museum is considered to one of the best museums of India, which attracts the tourists from all over the globe. It has the best and richest collection of miniature paintings of Bikaner school, coins that dates back to the Harappa Civilization, weapons and terracotta ware.

Gajner Palace


A hunting lodge of the erstwhile kings, Gajner Palace is yet another place that is worth a visit in the City of Bikaner. The palace is built using red sandstone on the embankment of a beautiful lake amidst the woods, which offers a serene and tranquil ambience. This place is a paradise for the peace lovers and is visited by travelers to witness the beauty of the Palace. Camel Breeding Farm

Among the popular places of tourist interest in Bikaner is the Camel breeding farm. The National Research Center on Camel is located at Jorbeer in Bikaner, which is why the city came to be known as the Camel Country. The National Research Center on Camel breeds the best camels in Bikaner and conducts research work related to "the ship of the desert." Tourists can experience the whole desert on the back of a camel as the farm also arranges camel rides. This is one of the most visited tourist places in the city of Bikaner.
