tipu sultan, who became the ruler of mysore in 1782, has a very interesting story. it is said that once he went to forests with a friend who was from france. there he battled with the tiger unarmed as his gun was not working. his dagger fell to the ground and he fought till he was not able to pick dagger again. after this he came to be known as 'tiger of mysore'. are there any more such interesting stories about him or other courageous kings of our india?

wow!! this is interesting. i might have heard or read this story somewhere, sometime, but dint remember it at all..
we generally tend to forget what we are told or taught when we are in school, but years later same things seem to be soo very interesting and amazing.
    thanks

it is also interesting to note that the sword of tipu sultan was made in eighteenth cetury. written with gold on the steel handle of the tipu's sword were the quotations from koran with messages about the victories in war. it also had a royal tiger head towards the bottom of the handle. it was made of wootz steel.
