The concept of Democracy is prevalent since ancient times and this concept was coined in the city of Athens in Greece. The word Democracy is a Greek work which means “rule by the Demos” and “Demos” means people. Hence democracy means “rule by the people”. It is one of the best forms of Government where government is elected by the people and people are the Supreme power in such form of Government. Democracy is said to be a Government “for the people, of the people and by the people”.

India has been declared by the Constitution of India as a sovereign, secular and democratic republic country. India is the World’s largest democracy and this democracy lets the people elect their own representative by way of election. However, the main point that we need to ponder on is what would happen to a democracy like India which have profligate, uneducated, unwise, greedy and corrupt leaders?

The vast nation India, which has more than 1.2 billion population is suffering from problems like poverty, unemployment, corruption, illiteracy and various other social and economical issues. These issues could have been easily tackled only if we had a proper and educated Government. To tell the truth, the general public, who themselves have voted for such hedonist leaders has to accept consequences in the long run. Uneducated and corrupt leaders concentrate more on accrue a lot of wealth instead of working for the welfare of people. Our political leaders work for their own benefits for the reason that they have contested elections for their own financial gain and that is why politics has been known by bad soubriquets such as stupid corrupt, blood thirsty, an evil play, etc. Indian politics have become a pit of dirt and criminalization of politics has indeed stained the Indian Politics. We, cannot blame politics to be good or bad but it is the leaders elected by us have made Indian politics bad.

In my view, Democracy not only mean right to vote but it means right to elect educated, erudite, conscious and efficient representatives, who possess grit to work for the welfare of the society and it has now become important that young, diligent, energetic and adroit persons of the society must come forward and join politics for changing the present scenario of Indian politics. It has now become important to elect educated people as our representatives as it will help in changing the whole scenario of the country and make India better and developed nation. Plato rightly said that a nation can develop and progress only if it is governed by wise and educated leaders. However, I believe that there should be a minimum educational qualification for politicians like any other job needs. It should be made compulsory that every individual who wants to enter into politics should possess a minimum educational qualification. By doing this we can elect some better, wise, erudite, conscious and efficient representatives, who will help in making our nation a better nation.

I completely agree with you that there should be minimum educational qualification for politicians. Indian Politics have become a pit of dirt with the uneducated people getting into politics. If minimum educational qualification is fixed for people to join politics, the present scenario of Indian politics will improve as they will not indulge in politics and it will no longer be a pit of dirt and corruption.

I agree that there should be minimum educational qualification for politicians. It has become important to involve educated people in Indian politicians seeing the present scenario of Indian Politics. Indian Politics has been ruined by the presence of uneducated and selfish people who are interested in making money and have no interest in the development of the nation. Only educated politicians can improve the present condition of our nation.
