The Vedic Literature mainly consists of 4 holy texts which are the oldest religious texts in the world. The Rig Veda, the Sama Veda, the Yajur veda and the Atharva Veda. What other Vedic literature is found apart from the Vedas? Apart from the Vedas, there is a bounty of vedic literature enriching Indian History. Some of the well known texts are the Brahmanas, the Aranyakas, the Upanishads, the Smritis, the Vedangas, the Darshanas, the Upavedas and the Epics. This literature is age old and a good topic to research if you are interested in gaining the knowledge of our past.

The Commencement of Vedic Age and literature is as old as the indian history. Once the Aryans settled in the Northern and central Indian provinces, tribal system began disappearing and gradually kingship came about. Soon, armies and priests and tax collection and other setup began leading to the quest for knowledge.
