So far I am never able to understand what miraculous is there in a fairer skin color? Does it really matter or is it mandatory for a person to have a fairer skin in order to look good and becoming wise? Does it actually make one; amiable and honorable in front of others? Has it really boosted up one’s self-confidence? Apparently it does matter and have a big role to play for some of the Indians who have somewhere become obsessed with the “fairness” factor. They want to look fairer, they ‘prefer’ to be with the people who have fair skin color, and in fact their choices get greatly influenced by this fairness factor in a person. Families and particularly boys want a fairer daughter-in-law and a life-partner respectively, in fact they refuse so many matrimonial proposals just because the girls were little darker, young girls are getting so much possessive about their skin colors they feel to be inferior with their dark skin color and they just want to acquire a fair look as soon as possible. Some youngsters prefer to make friends who are fairer in color. People are becoming so much color biased, and unknowingly or knowingly they tend to discriminate among people on the basis of fairness. But when we Indians would understand the it is not the fairness of the skin but a strong character and a wise personality makes a person impressive and amiable for others. We belong to a free country and a great country that has taught us the lesson of simple living and high thinking then how could we Indians become obsessed and biased for such a temporary aspect of life? We should work upon raising our standards of thought and action, increasing the fairness of the skin would be futile over a period of time. Do you agree with this?
