The so called Hindus who are trying to protect 'tradition' by making Penguin withdraw her book is doing immense harm. They have not read Hindus: an alternative History which contains nothing disrespectful about Hinduism. What she does is to approach it from a scholarly angle than blind submissiveness and devotion. All her opponents have is the same intolerant bigotry against anything that deviates from their view of religion/culture that is the hallmark of semitic religions. Not surprising since most of the opposition is by NRIs. They are the ones who are trying to drown the richness of Hindu heritage into single monolithic structure like the white people have.
