The Difficulty of Being Good by Gurcharan Das is a new novel by the author where he focuses on the great epic Mahabharata to get the answer of the question “why be good” and learns that the epic's world of moral vagueness and doubt is closer to our experience as ordinary human beings than the slender and inflexible positions that describe most debate in this fundamentalist age of moral certainty. The novel is a nice read but it is little on the heavier side and will not be liked by the readers who love light and timepass kind of books.
