Indian arts have a vivid and magnificent form of Handicrafts that has always been so much fascinating and mesmerizing for everyone. For centuries Indian states have been representing the talents and skills of their people in handicrafts which foster the tradition and culture of India. Indian crafts endow a variety of things such as paintings and puppetry, textiles, embellishments, home décor accessories, wooden and stone craft works. But with the arrival of industrialization and Technology advancement the handicraft is somewhere getting diminished or we can say that people are getting more attractive towards the ready made and more advanced stuff these days. Since technology has made it so easy to produce everything in a lesser time, it has also impacted the cost of handicrafts immensely. Handicrafts would obviously be little more expensive because they are hand made, one has devoted his/her full time in creating that one craft piece and this eventually affects its cost as well. That is why people generally hesitate to possess and buy a handicraft because of its high cost. Technology had surely aroused as a threat to the Indian handicraft and it has severely affected its usefulness and prevalence. What do you think about this?

Yes I do agree with the post, Technology has indeed become an enormous threat to the handicrafts. Technology has made the things so easily approachable and accessible that we do not really feel any need to look forward to/ buy the handicrafts and some where we do feel that handicrafts are delicate stuff and are not durable. Moreover the costs of handicrafts are quite high and the typical Indian mentality does not favor the costlier things. We want to buy good but only in feasible prices and that is where the technology has slowed down the usance of handicrafts. But handicrafts are the wonderful cultural monuments that cannot be neglected. There are people who love to assemble handicrafts for their homes and personal use but they are mostly found among the elite classes. The most affected section is the artisans and the men folks who produce and make those handicrafts. The government should think about such artisans who have to sit idle and face the poverty when their artifacts are not sold. Those artisans need to be employed in other better options and should be provided some technical skills and knowledge so that they can also combine their creativity with the modern techniques.
