The Gentleman's game - Cricket underwent an image makeover with the T20 Cricket format. Gone were the day-long cricketing events. Cricket got its own dose of celebrity quotient and glamor in the shorter version. But many feel that the instant version of cricket has killed the ODI format? Do you agree that T20 Cricket has killed the ODI Cricket ?
Nope The T20 format hasnt killed ODI, although yes it has affected the taste of the audience but, according to me as a loyal cricket audience both have their own charm.....
For international popularity of sport this is necessary. Cricket is not in Olympic because of same reason. Olympic almost always demands events to be of short duration with at least 16 participating countries. Cricket with ODI format was not completing these 2 requirements consistently....though there are 25+ countries with ODI teams but they are not "Competent enough" as per IIC norms. So, still only 9 teams are hardcore cricket teams. Now, T20 adds to the uncertainty of the sport which means more countries will get chance in near future. By the way, "ODI Cricket killing Test Cricket" was said in the initial stages of ODI cricket.
T20 Cricket killing Cricket is simply a -ve point. because its another game one day cricket is another game and test cricket is another game. the pace is changing and we also so know ke time ke saath sab kuch change hota hain yaar
well the T20 has not really killed the ODI format but it has affected the ODI game. the T20 game is a very fast going format game and people enjoy a lot with more suspense. people have liked this format and on the other hand ODI seems to be a little longer and boring gameplay when compared to T20
for the cricket fans both T20 Cricket and ODI Cricket Formats are still the favorite. i think the T20 format has drastically affected the Test Cricket matches which run for 5 days. it is normal that it would seem boring to watch a cricket match for 5 days when there are matches like T20 which are very fast and full of suspense.
No way, ODI format has it's own craze. May be T20 format has made cricket a little bit faster but real cricketing fans are always with classic cricket stokes. First 15 over power play, next 25 overs of slow drama with slow bowlers and last 5 overs of slog play does pull fans attraction on it.
Cricket and its essence is the same whether its a 50-50 match or a 20-20 match.Cricket will always be one of the most important religion for the indian audience. But the audience has been increasing with the new format. To a great extent yes because ODI'S match are seldom played. We are getting to witness Pakistan cricket team playing more t20's then ODI'S.
I don't agree that T20 has killed the ODI format but yes it has brought in a change in the whole concept of One day international. Personally I prefer T20 over 50over matches. These T20 cricket format is more enjoyable than the 50 overs format because it is fast and do not keep on lingering. Moreover, the introduction of the T20 format is increasing the number of audience because these matches does not take very long and finishes of early and people do not have to spend the entire day watching a match.
May be it effected more.As T20 has taken members attentions. The main reason is that it is a small duration play and mostly scheduled in the night times by which all can enjoy watching it.
