There are various arguments regarding the issue whether students diversified with respect to their academic performances should be separately taught in classes or not. Few schools have adopted this policy believing this split-up system will enhance the sense of competition among weaker students as they might too gradually want to be part of the ‘better’ lot but the cons are heftier than the pros. I believe this segregation is harmful for personality development among students, including the better ones. Lower self-esteem, feeling of inferiority and stagnancy in growth are some of the possibilities that come to my mind. Discuss your views in regard of this.
Let me tell you all, a fact based on reality that most of the students study, by heart stuff, write on examinations just for the sake of marks to be printed on their mark sheets; which will make their career look good. But what is the use of learning something which is very easily forgotten with the fragment of time. And we people judging students on the basis of those secured marks is much more non-sensical. Segregate students on the basis of their skills in which they excel, so that we can show them a better path in their respective field of interests. This will give happiness and a sense of contentment to every student.
Young minds don’t have enough strategy to handle every situation. Just to maintain and increase the reputation of institutions board members decide to segregate students based on their performances. But before doing this everyone must understand the inner feelings of children. In this process of gaining name and fame for the institutes, self esteem of young students must not be harmed. Instead of isolating them they can be given importance in extra classes. Sometimes these depression become a big hurdle for them to boost their self confidence and face the world bravely.
Academic performance is not everything when it comes to education. If you are segregating students on the basis of their marks, you are causing a lot of harm:- 1. Groupism on the basis of marks. As students do not mingle with one another, they may form assumptions about one another. 2. Inferiority and superiority complex that the students of lower marks and higher marks may develop respectively. 3. A lack of exposure: In real life, we come across people who have performed differently on the academic front!
