Death penalty is still given to the accused who have committed severe offence. It is a deterrent punishment, which is awarded to stop crime. In my view, death penalty should not be removed as although it has not been successful in fulfilling its actual objective. However, for serious crime, death penalty can be given as it will not give another chance to the accused to commit the same crime or any other crime again. What are your view? Should death penalty be abolished from India or not?
No, death penalty should not be abolished from India. I very much agree with the reasons that you have put forward in favor of death punishment. Death punishment is a rare punishment given to any accused and may be for this reason, it is not able to curb crime from the society. Deterrent punishments are needed in the society today to stop crime that is increasing day by day.
Death penalty has done no good to our nation and has not helped in reducing crime from the society. Although it is a rarely given punishment but this punishment has not taught any lesson to the criminals. In my view, death penalty should be abolished in India. Punishments are given to reform the criminals or to teach a lesson to others but death penalty has in now way helped in curbing crime in the society so its better that it is abolished.
I don't think so. The criteria for announcing death penalty should be made a little higher but i completely removing it would make India seem like a more flexible country to commit crimes. We are already facing the problem with Law and Judiciary which do not punish the guilty appropriately. Further relaxing the punishments would only increase the crime rates. I may not be right but then it's just my opinion! Any critiques?
I agree with you. Although death penalty exist in India but it is very rarely given to the convicts and it should be increased if we really want to cut down on the crime rate that is rising in India. If it is completely abolished it will allow the people to commit more crimes as death is the only thing that people fears and removing death penalty will reduce the fear of death and this will increase the crime.
