As far as attendance system is mandatory in the universities the discipline is supposed to be maintained by the students. In my opinion I do not think that attendance should be made voluntary, because if it happens this way then I do not feel that the students would fairly and honestly handle this matter. There would be an increase in absentees and class bunking. At least with the attendance system the students feel their duty or obligation to be present in the classroom and when they are present they would obviously attend the lecture/class. But if it turns out to be a voluntary action I firmly feel students would voluntarily miss and bunk the lectures. It will only give rise to carelessness and negligent attitude in the students. What is your stand about this matter? Should attendance be made voluntary according to you?
