Modern young men and women who are very much influenced by movies, T.V shows, literature and other media are more prone to be romantic especially in marital matters. While selecting their life partners, they give more importance to romantic matters rather than to hard reality. Young people must be made aware of the consequences of romantic marriages and need to be advised to become more realistic and to have faith in their parents, who can choose a better companion for them according to their own cultural settings. In fact, in the modern Indian society, many of the divorce cases are taking place because the romantic expectations with which young people often enter marriage, are frustrated by the unromantic realities of the marital situations. Many young men nourished in the romantic traditions, may blame their marriage if they feel unhappy, whereas the difficulty may be either within themselves or in situation external to marriage. Men and women are demanding greater personal satisfaction from the estate of matrimony. But then one has to work harder at making marriage a success. Probably no married person is completely happy before marriage, nor he can expect to be completely happy after marriage.
