It was in 1990; when I was simply 14 while I connected the anti-Mandal protests. May it be just our inquisitiveness rather any objective that drove some of kids like us to march along the streets in our home town joining hands with our aged fraternity beside the Mandal payment. Protest rallies, road blockades, and heated talking of local scholars leaders were some of the facial appearance of those existences. We never troubled raising slogans beside Mandal commission as well as even then the PM, V P Singh, devoid of proper data of what those whole controversies was all concerned about. The demonstrations ran for fairly some time as well as an amount of violent occurrences accustomed to be within the headlines throughout that era. Possibly, in those days, we had immediately been a gain of kids frantic to encompass something to acquire angry about. Hence, those days of early days have disappeared, the youth ness fetched a lot of a chances towards facing the reality as well as understand the bewilderment of reservations as well as politics played in excess of this very constituent, which separates the country.

Now I understand that, in those times, we were not so mistaken in linking with those the anti-Mandal gripes. Our reasons towards get occupied in those gripes then, might have been untrained and less conversant, but we have fought for the correct side. The recent suggestion made through human resource development minister Arjun Singh to boost reservations as of the present 22.5% to 49.5% for Other Backward Classes in prestigious educational institutes like IITs along with IIMs as well as other organizations of higher edification is just preparing up a squall now. It appears as if the mandal politics in the time of 1980s has returned to once more. Students from each and every spectrum encompass reacted with upset and labeled it like assassinate of worth. And the argument has been called as mandal-II.

i m strongly against this reservation in indian education system. we are a evolved country and people can now study and compete equally unlike earlier times. there is absolutely no need of these reservations. no country has such reservations in their education system. i do not understand what have the open category students done? for what are they being punished?.this is total absurdity running in our country for some people are enjoying the benefits for no reason in the name of so called social justice. i think government must at once curb this reservation system.

We do not have a libertarian system in India where everyone is seen with equal eye. In our past, few sections of people were under social prejudices and now in order to serve them justice, government introduced this reservation system. But i don't think it's justified completely. Government must keep away reservations from top level institutes and jobs in order to offer a fair competition platform for every student. We need the best at the top level, not the favored ones!

Of course India does not witness a libertarian system.
The system of reservation is a system that divides people. It does not enhance fraternity and equality. In fact this system has put bars between different classes of people.

It is the reservation system that is ruining the Indian education system. This is dividing the people and making them their own rivals and has become a threat to equality and fraternity of the nation. Reservation on the basis of caste, sex or religion should be completely abolished especially from the education system and if at all reservation exist, it should be for the economically backward people who yearn to get higher education.

The Reservation system is creating a barrier and is one of the biggest barrier in progress and development of the nation. It is also prevalent in the Indian education system. It is creating barrier and hatred between the students as many deserving students do not get an opportunity to get better education because of this reservation system. Many students who has the potential to do well are deprived of getting admission in good government institutes for this. It should now be abolished and equal opportunity should be given to everyone.

Although reservation was introduced with the concept of up-liftment of backward classes in India; it was also said that this veil has to be raised at a certain period of time; which has not been done till date. Reservation was proposed to provide a back-up to the needy ones. But in the shield of it, the ineligible ones got promoted to the undeserved seats while the deserving one lags behind. so, we can say that, it was essential at one point of time. Now, its existence has to be modified and altered in accordance to the present day scenario.

  8. Our Constitution is found on the ideals of equality and justice both in the social as well as political spheres. The Constitution had laid down 15% and 7.5 % reservation for ST and SC for period of 15 years only. However, reservation continues to be a controversial social and political issue and has resulted in many protracted legal disputes and multitude of legal interpretations. This has created a barrier for meritorious students. Some people misuse their caste certificates for their benefits. Although they get top marks in exam but this reservation puts an end to their development in career. As a results merit students prefer for migrating in other countries for job or higher studies.

To understand the depth of reservation system I would like to first talk about where it originated from in the first place.

The Dhebar Commission in 1960s categorised the Scheduled Tribes into the Primitive Tribal Groups. These groups had primitive methods of practising agriculture, nil population growth, low literacy level, unstable governance and economic system. All these factors stressed on the fact that they were excluded from the main economy. Also some tribal groups were also notified as criminals by birth during the British rule, which affected their livelihood and existence to a great extent. Such were the atrocities that the constitution of India mentioned special privileges to these classes.

We would be highly ignorant if we say that India has developed socially and there is no discrimination. We still have tribal groups who have not been made to inclusively participate in the economy still today, even after revolutions. So reservation system cannot be repealed totally. It will rob off opportunities even from the needy. What really went wrong is the tenure of these special privileges. Once a community developed, the privileges continued to be supplied and that lead to exploitation. Whereas the ideal kind of reservation system, according to me, should be based on the annual income of population as whole and not just generalize the system for a particular class.
