It is easy to file a complaint in the consumer court and can be made in a piece of paper with the essential particulars.
    • There is no fee for filing a complaint before the District Forum, the State Commission or the National Commission. (A stamp paper is also not required). There should be 3 to 5 copies of the complaint on plain paper
    • The complainant or his authorized agent can present the complaint in person
    • The complaint can be sent by post to the appropriate Forum / Commission
    • A complaint should contain the following information:-
    (a) the name, description and the address of the complainant
    (b) the name , description and address of the opposite party or parties, as the case may be, as far as they can be ascertained
    (c) The facts relating to complaint and when and where it arose
    (d) Documents, if any, in support of the allegations contained in the complaint
    (e) The relief which the complainant is seeking
    • The complaint should be signed by the complainant or his authorized agent
    • The complaint is to be filed within two years from the date on which cause of action has arisen

Nice piece of Information! These are quite easy steps to follow and anybody can file such complaints. But i have a doubt in this procedure. Nothing has been mentioned as to whom the complaint must be sent! Is there a separate consumer court to which the complaint must be sent? And if there are separate forums for complaints how do we find them?

Thank you. The procedure of filling a complaint is same in all the redressal agencies established by government. Selection of consumer forums depends upon the amount of compensation asked for by the consumer. There is a thread which i have posted will guide you and answer your queries.

Today there are Alternative Dispute Resolution techniques are being applied to resolve consumer disputes that include mediation, conciliation and arbitration. I would like to know what are the procedure of filling a complaint for ADR process? Is it same as for filling a complaint in the redressal consumer forums? Is there any time limit for filling a complaint for ADR process?
