Problem Of Old-age In India is worst. In India there are around 81 million old people, statistics suggest 40% of those senior citizens living with their own families are facing different kind of abuses. Indian president has passed Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act to punish children abandoning their parents with fine or 3-4 months imprisonment.

Rights Of The Elderly In India. Indian parents must not be evicted from their house without a legal process, as per three Indian enactments CrPC section 125, The Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act, and The Domestic Violence Act. National Policy declared in 1999 identify financial-security, shelter, health, protection of life cum property of older persons in India.

This is really a good initiative from the government's side as we can find many young families leaving away their parents in turmoil to evade financial responsibilities. Media should play a role in changing this system in India by promoting care taking of old aged parents by their children.

Really good initiative but how far this would be put into use? We have number of laws in IPC which protect various rights of an individuals. But all those laws are not being put into use and if they are, the courts delay the judgment! So is there any practical solution to this?
