Madhya Pradesh had been a peaceful state until now. In fact it is the governance that started the use of computer technology to good use in the political system with e-governance methods. However a part of Madhya Pradesh was made into Chhattisgarh and thus started a series or hartals and ‘racist attacks’. The main issue that has been crippling the state in recent years has been the naxal attacks. One of the main bases of these anti government organizations is in the jungles of Chhattisgarh. Every day they are upto something, stopping train services, derailing expresses and killing cops. Landmine blasts in the jungle periphery are killing several jawans who are on the patrol. The problem has been aggravated by the naxal issue that just doesn’t seem to end and with honor killings being done each single day. Coming to the structure of the government, the state of Madhya Pradesh has only one house, the state legislative assembly or the Vidhan Sabha. This assembly consists of 60 members which is also the case for other Indian states. Also the Lok Sabha consists of the Upper house and the Lower House. The head of the governance is the chief minister while the state head is the governor. The governor has more discretionary powers than the chief minister and is appointed by the President of India. Then come the various ministers who are assigned various departments. The main political parties in Madhya Pradesh are Indian National Congress, Jiti Jitayi Politics, Bharatiya Janata Party, Madhya Pradesh Kisan Mazdoor Adivasi Kranti Dal, Pragatisheel Bahujan Samaj Party and Madhya Pradesh Vikas Congress. Presently the Madhya Pradesh governance is headed by Shivraj Singh Chauhan of the BJP. The government seems to going for an investment drive. The state has got a lot of potential with key areas being diamond production, agriculture, coal and fuel, organic farming and tourism and these are being pushed further.
