Jharkhand political divide - Jharkhand politics has been on the centre stage in the media for a year now. The state was created in 2000 as a breakaway from Bihar. Right from the British days, it has been a stage witnessing intercultural divides and revolutions. A similar kind of trend haunts the state in the present times too. More than cross border terrorism, what has been a problem for India in the recent years are the naxalite revolutions. Jharkhand is one of their stronghold and capital. Being a small state itself when compared to its neighbors, Jharkhand counts no less in the number of political parties that compete in the elections. In fact the system is unmatched by any other state constituency.

Coming to the makeup of the political system, Jharkhand is divided into 12 districts and 14 parliamentary constituencies. The parliamentary constituency winners represent Jharkhand at the lower house of the Parliament and the assembly constituency winners go onto becomes the representatives in the state legislative assembly. With the UPA government into power in 2004, the results showed large scale of anti-incumbency that was felt all over India. The success was attributed to the popularity of the JMM (Jana Mukti Morcha), the state party.

Almost all the recognized national parties show their presence in Jharkhand. This includes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Communist Party of India (CPI) and of course the Indian National Congress (INC). While all these gather some votes in every election, JMM has been winning by huge majorities in the last couple of years. There are several other smaller and independent parties that take part in the election and form a part of the ultimate coalition.
However in the present times the naxalites are trying to immobilize the political system and demand control over the state governments functioning. This has led to severe crisis in the state

the present government leading jharkhand JMM is doing pretty good in its long run, but there are some difficulties in coping up with all parties and people. the JMM is getting good support from the BJP and CPI during the times of need. the government needs to do much more on its counterpart to attend to grievances of people of jharkhand.

jharkhand is not much on to the news with political disturbances. the government is doing pretty well on its par. jharkhand's JMM needs to work little harder to get the state proper infrastructure as it is lagging in it. the people of jharkhand also need attention in issues like education, healthcare and unemployment.
