Assam is a state living in the middle of a serious crisis quarter. The erroneous immigration policy is one of the major negative feedback from the masses for the government. Penury and hideous vote bank schemes are running in the background of an unstable government. It is further crippled by the hill agitations and Gorkhaland outbursts. With the leaders of AASU (All Assam Student’s Union) losing their grip, the Assam Accord was signed in dire urgency. This led to the implementation of certain schemes that have been overlooked in a state of hurry and now troubling the government.

All the three party in the alliance group; the AAGSP, Govt. Of India and AASU; have reeled under the criticism and bantering for a long time now. A serious issue involves the case of Bangladeshi immigrants who are increasing the population density of the state and the locals are suffering from job loss and food crisis. This is something similar to the Raj Thakre comments on non Marathi residents in his state but in Assam, the condition really needs serious discussion.

As a minority appeasement policy, the government had taken away the Foreigner’s Act following the fear of the Muslims in the state being labelled as Bangladeshis’. IMDT was introduced in this aspect but the leadership was said to be implementing vote bank politics.
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi of the NIA has also been accused of funding militants in the Assamese hills. However, he is confident to say that he will quit politics if such allegations are found true. Investigation is on and only time will determine the future of Assam. Along with these several scandals what has been a worry for Assam as for the rest of the country is internal terrorism by the Naxals. Any government will reel under so many pressures and when the majority of them are security issues

Let's debate on Political issues and Politics of Assam

assam's politics has also been under pressure due to internal complexities faced from the ULFA and other outfits. the politics is mainly contributed by the indian national congress, the AAGSP, AASU and the BJP. there is much violence in places of assam and people from other states are mostly the targets of the native assamese unions. however mr. tarun gogoi is pretty good on his counterpart.

the politics of assam has been nimble over the years, showing not much changes in the governance. however it is keen on resolving issues between the ULFA and the people of assam who are not native to the state. the state still is facing security related issues as there is violence seen in remote areas of assam which not tackled well by the assam government.

Congress wins absolute majority in Assam , BJP & AGP shocked

The defeat of their leaders has stunned party workers of the Asom Gana Parishad and the Bharatiya Janata Part into silence.

AGP president Chandra Mohan Patowary lost in Dharmapur, his home ground, to his Congress rival Nilamoni Sen Deka by over 5,000 votes. Patowary was the chief ministerial candidate for the AGP with plans of forging an alliance with the BJP. Unfortunately for him, the voters did a complete turnabout.

Similarly, Ranjit Dutta, BJP's state president and a sitting member of the legislative assembly, lost to Congress newcomer Pallab Lochan Das. UG Brahma, president of the Bodoland People's Progressive Front, an ally of the AGP, lost in Korajhar to Pradip Brahma of the Bodoland People's Front.

With the Congress clearly headed for victory, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday expressed gratitude to the people of the state for reposing their confidence in the Congress. "We were sure of forming the government again as very few states in the country had introduced so many schemes for the welfare of common people," Gogoi told mediapersons.

"The people were by and large satisfied with our work and mostly women, youths and the educated people were enthusiastic and supported us to win," he said.

Asked about the mantra for his party's victory for the third consecutive term under him, the chief minister replied, "There is no mantra. People understood our commitment and sincerity to work for them."

"In spite of propaganda by the opposition parties and some organisations such as the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, the people were not swayed but remained faithful to our commitment to them," Gogoi said. "We are very grateful to the people for believing in us and not the opposition propaganda", he added.

The chief minister expressed the hope that the peace talks with the United Liberation Front of Asom and other militant outfits National Democratic Front of Bodoland, Karbi Longri National Liberation Front, Dima Halim Daogah-Jewel, etc, would be resolved through negotiations during the next five years.

On the issue of corruption, Gogoi said, "I am not denying that there is corruption but we need to tackle the situation."

Party workers were seen celebrating by serving puri-sabzi to visitors and well-wishers at the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters.

assamese government seems to work in its own fashion where parties like AAGSP and AASU fight for the locals.. recently congress has grabbed fair chance in winning maximum votes of assamese. the controversies of assam is mostly due to ULFA which has plagued the state with its terror striking activities. the state wishes to resolve issues with ULFA and seeks centres help in this..

Politics of Assam has been in serious crisis since a long time. The state has the most corrupt Government and there has been no major development in the state since quite sometime. It is neither ULFA nor any other terrorist organization that is creating issues in the state rather it is the Government who is least interested in the development of the state. The money that the state gets from the Central government is used to fill up the treasure chest of the Ministers. The Ministers keep blaming each other for not able to tackle the issues. There is now no major problem of ULFA and even NDFB but they are being blamed for everything. Assam has the most inefficient and corrupt Government in the whole Nation.

The current Politics of Assam is in a very pathetic condition. The insurgence of ULFA and other terrorist organization has definitely affected the political condition of the State however, corruption has taken control over the whole politics of Assam. The State needs a very strong political party to control the ongoing situation in Assam. There are so many issues in Assam and one of the major issues is the immigration of illegal occupants from Bangladesh. the Government is not taking any step because they are the vote bank. These things need to be controlled for political, social and economic development of the State.
