The pharmacy education in India is regulated by the Pharmacy Council of India and All India Council of Technical Education. But the Govt. has failed to properly institutionalize the course and create career opportunities for the Pharmacy students. AICTE is creating blunders by approving huge number of colleges in India, especially in Andhra pradesh where there are 300 colleges alone out of total 700 in India. Govt. must reduce the number of colleges and regulate the pharma companies for intake of pharmacy students only.
The course pharmacy is quite new to india since its inception but it has been under practice in crude form since ages. However the present scenario of education in pharmacy remains dormant with obsolete syllabus and ways of learning. The students remain ignorant of the current scenario of pharmaceutical sector with the present pharmacy education in India. Therefore i think the government must at once induce life into this course and revive it so the students can become useful human resource after completing this course.
