pandita ramabai- a great scholar of sanskrit felt that hinduism was oppressive towards women. she also wrote a book about the miserable lives of the upper caste hindu women. she also provided shelter to the widows who were left by their families and also trained them to get them financially dependent. do you think that the same is the condition of women today also ?? is the hinduism religion still orthodox towards women ??
It is the human mentality that needs to be changed. Giving women an inferior position has been a worldwide phenomenon, which is changing; and in Indian also the scenario is changing. However, women are still being suppressed in countries eg with Islamic laws. Search over the Internet and you will find irrefutable evidences. I think the ‘great scholar’ Pandita Ramabai will also blame Hinduism for that.
yes it does prevail even today in most of the hindu families. women are treated like slaves. they are forbidden for most of the tasks and asked to stick to kitchen and household works. we need to bring this awareness as such of pandita ramabai to the people, then only some change can be witnessed as otherwise, the orthodox nature is passing on to the next generation.
