NGO and the Development of India The term ‘NGO’ stands for ‘Non-Governmental Organization’ that usually sprouts to fill the gap in the functions of the Government towards the people of the society and the nation. However Government tries to fulfill its different roles such as; policy development, regulation, facilitation and internal sustainability management but still there are many loopholes and vulnerabilities left in the path of development and growth of the nation as a whole. Development of the nation does not only limited to the economic growth and prosperity among the people of the country rather it is a much broader term that is associated with few other significant factors which will not only facilitate the development but also help in realizing a sustainable development for the nation. Such factors include; social growth, social justice, awareness and empowerment of the citizens, equality, preservation of human rights, uplifting the underprivileged and disadvantaged sectors of the society, promotion of education, women welfare, health sector and promoting humanitarian causes among the citizens of the society. And here the NGOS play a very vital role in the pathway of development of India by becoming an operational adherent of the civil society.
