We all experience different emotions at different times. Emotions have been classified as negative and positive. We are taught to run away from negative emotions because they hamper our happiness, a positive emotion. But did you know that some negative emotions are good too? Anxiety, though considered to be largely negative, enables a person to think of solutions to his present situation. It also enables her to take preventive measures. What are the other negative emotions that you think could be good? They have stayed with the evolution for a reason!
Man is an emotion driven being and so, emotions make human actions. But some of the negative vibes are so strong that it certainly prevents one from falling into the pit holes of this world. The truth says that we are limited; still since our births we are made to think of attaining anything and everything we want to. The failure of such dreams leads us the lap of depression and frustration. Thus, if we are brought up with the mentality of accepting the reality, our lives would be easier to deal with. Sometimes, lowering of expectations can be an useful tool to our survival. High expectations don’t survive all the time. So, negative emotions will keep a control over the humanly actions in some or the other way; and thus its existence in limited amount is required in our lives.
Feeling bad is the worst feeling and contradictory to how we portray ourselves in public, we sometimes fail to veil every emotion and that definitely includes negative feelings. While it is true that anything out of proportion is never good, the best thing still remains the fact that even feelings of negativity have their own share of pros. Like, Pessimism, with its balanced share, could make a person ready for any kind of situation. A person who has anticipated and taken precautions for negative outcomes of a situation is more likely to survive a storm compared to someone who kept their hopes too high. Again, discouragement can pose as another form of challenge. There are people who perform better when they are discouraged or underestimated. This offers them a challenge in disguised form and they take this up quite on their ego to get work done. Makes sense, right? However as I mentioned, these are after all feelings of negativity which people are more vulnerable to be overpowered with and hence things should not be blown out of proportion.
