Namchi is the district capital of South Sikkim district and is situated at an altitude of 1,315 metres above the sea level. The place has mesmerizing and captivating natural beauty and has a lot of folklore related to it. The place has significance in the history of Sikkim. Both Hindus and Buddhists people are found here and Nepali is the major language spoken in this region. Namchi Mahotsav is one of the most popular festivals celebrated here. This festival showcases the culture and tradition of Sikkim and it attracts a lot of tourist from all over the World. The place is also known to have the largest statue of Lord Buddha. Some of the major attractions of this place include The Namchi Monastery, Ralong Monastery,Tendong Hill and Namchi Rock Garden.
